Snow is expected to fall in the Augusta area through the weekend, with overnight temperatures falling below freezing.
The National Weather Service announced Thursday that a winter storm watch will be in place from 7 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Sunday. Snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches are possible in the Augusta area.
The Salvation Army Hope Center at 1384 Green Street is seeking additional donations of clean blankets and towels that can be brought to the center. Financial donations will be accepted.

Georgia Power crews just completed restoring power to 70,000 customers across the state after a winter storm hit northern Georgia but not the Augusta area. The utility has suspended all service interruptions through Wednesday and resumes normal operations Thursday, at least for now.
