Six Flags announced Thursday that it will sell seven amusement parks in the United States and Canada, including Valleyfair in Shakopee, for $331 million.
New owner EPR Properties can use the Six Flags brand until the end of 2026 and plans to partner with Enchanted Parks to operate Valleyfair and other American parks, which are expected to continue operating normally this year with no significant impact on visitors.
According to the announcement, all season passes sold will be recognized throughout the 2026 season, including multi-park pass privileges at other Six Flags-owned parks.
Valleyfair is scheduled to reopen on May 9 to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

“Consistent with our strategy, this divestiture allows us to focus our capital, leadership and operational focus on properties we believe will generate the strongest returns and provide the greatest long-term upside,” Six Flags President and CEO John Reilly said in a statement.
“Since joining the company, it has been clear to me that Six Flags’ profitability has been underutilized. This transaction will simplify our portfolio, strengthen our balance sheet and allow us to execute with greater clarity and discipline.”
These other parks are part of the sale to EPR Properties: Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, Missouri; Michigan Adventures in Grand Rapids, Michigan; Schlitterbahn Waterpark Galveston in Galveston, Texas; Six Flags St. Louis in St. Louis, Missouri; Six Flags Great Escape in Queensbury, New York; and Six Flags La Ronde in Montreal.
Six Flags plans to operate the remaining 34 parks in 23 locations across North America through the 2026 season.
