Silent Hill 2 Remake Developer Bloober Team Announces Layers of Fear 3 With a Live-Action Teaser

Bloober Team, veterans of horror games like Silent Hill 2 Remastered and Cronos: New Dawn, are returning to the franchise that made the Polish studio famous. The developer announced Layers of Fear 3 on Sunday to mark the tenth anniversary of the first game in the psychological horror series. Bloober Team also plans to release books and music to expand the franchise beyond video games.

Last month, the developers of the Silent Hill 2 remake teased a countdown on a mysterious website, hinting that they were preparing to release a new game. The game is called Layers of Fear 3 and is the fourth major entry in the Bloober Team horror series. The studio released a live-action trailer for the game during a livestream on Sunday.

Bloober Team has yet to share a first look at the game and is keeping details of the story and setting under wraps. The trailer features lines from William Blake’s poem “The Sick Rose.” However, the studio says there are hidden hints in the trailer for keen fans of the Layers of Fear series. Bloober Team says the upcoming horror game will be “more twisted than ever”.

“Layers of Fear is a franchise that comes straight from our hearts and the beloved Bloobers Team story. This is a project we’ve been telling for ten years, one that has shaped our identity as a studio and set us on the path to creating unforgettable psychological horror experiences,” said Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team. “Ten years have passed, but we’re far from saying the last word – and now we’re revealing some new content for the series. We hope it will sow the seeds of excitement for fans of the game.”

Layers of Fear 3 has no release date yet.

Bloober Team also announced that they are expanding the horror series beyond games, with plans to launch a series of novels and music to be released on vinyl and CD. The studio is working with Polish publisher Foksal Publishing Group to release the Layers of Fear novel in late 2026. During the livestream, the developer also confirmed that it will be releasing digital and physical soundtracks for Layers of Fear, The Medium, and Cronos: New Dawn.

The first Layers of Fear was released on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2016, followed by Layers of Fear 2 in 2019. Bloober Team released a remake/sequel called “Layers of Fear” in 2023, combining the stories of the first two works with DLC.

Most recently, Bloober Team has received critical acclaim for its 2024 remake of Silent Hill 2 and the 2025 survival horror game Kronos: New Dawn.
