The Penguins reported that the decision on Crosby’s status for the final game came down to the wire.
“It was pretty close,” Crosby said. “Ultimately, I wasn’t able to go out and do what I needed to do to help the team. At that point, you have to make the decision that’s best for the team. It’s not an easy thing to do, but that’s hockey.”

Crosby reflects on his team’s performance at the Milan Cortina Games.
“I think the way we played all the games, even the games before, I thought we were really good,” Crosby said. “We were tested in some of these games. It wasn’t easy to get to this point, we just found a way. I think one of our best games was probably today. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out for us. But I’m very proud of our team and the way we competed and the way we played.”
