The New York Jets will improve their defense this offseason. Talent is needed at nearly every level, and the same goes for edge positions. The Jets’ Jermaine Johnson II enters a fateful contract season, while Will McDonald IV is still developing into a more consistent player.
That could lead to general manager Darren Mougey reaching out to EDGE for proven veteran help. Currently, there is a slew of intriguing pass rushers set to hit the open market, including Khalil Mack, Malcolm Coons, Draymond Jones, Jaylan Phillips and Trae Hendrickson, among others. Well, another big name just hit free agency as well.

According to multiple reports, the Miami Dolphins will waive veteran EDGE Bradley Chubb. The Jets obviously know Chubb well, having competed with him in the NFC East. Chubb could be a free agent target for the Jets.
Chubb suffered an ACL injury late in the 2023 season and missed the entire 2024 season. The former NC State standout returns in admirable fashion in 2025, recording 8.5 sacks last season. That would put the Jets in sacks.
Muggie and Aaron Glenn must improve their pass-rushing ability this offseason. Seeing Chubb enter free agency gives them another option to evaluate.
