Seth Anderson has resigned as a teacher and football coach at Columbia College, the school announced in a press release on February 17.
“After much prayer and consideration, I have asked to step down from my teaching and coaching duties at Columbia College,” Anderson said in the release. “I need to step back and put my health and the health of my family first.
I’m grateful to have been able to coach at Columbia College for the past 20 years and to have been able to teach for the past 15 years. I love Columbia College’s mission and will continue to support it. “

Anderson’s resignation comes weeks after Columbia College fired athletic director Pernell Knox. Knox was relieved of his duties as AD on February 4, ending a campaign that began in 2016.
Anderson compiled a 23-23 record in four seasons with the Bulldogs and won the TSSAA Division II-A football state championship in 2024, a first for the program. He also previously served as the school’s softball coach, winning state championships in 2019, 2021 and 2022.
“We love his family dearly and wish him the best,” said Dr. James A. Thomas, the school’s president. “We will immediately begin an extensive search for the next coach to lead our football program.”
