Ninja Theory’s Xbox and PC exclusive game Senua’s Legend: Hellblade 2 is reportedly coming to PS5. The action-adventure game will likely join other Microsoft first-party games such as Forza Horizon 5, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Age of Mythology: The Retelling, which are confirmed to launch on PS5 in 2025. The Xbox parent company has brought several exclusive games to rival platforms over the past year and says more will be released this year.
Hellblade 2 is coming to PS5 “soon”
This information comes from Windows Central executive editor Jez Corden, who has exclusive coverage of Xbox games and hardware. According to him, the PS5 version of “Hellblade 2” may be announced during the PlayStation State of Play live broadcast this week.
Sony announced on Tuesday that it will hold a State of Play live broadcast on February 12. The showcase is confirmed to be over 40 minutes long and will feature updates and announcements about games coming to PS5.
Corden said in response to State of Play news on X that Hellblade 2 might be part of the showcase. Replying to another user discussing whether the game would be coming to PS5, Corden responded: “Not if, but ‘when!’ From what I understand, when is that?”
While he didn’t specify a timeline, if Hellblade 2 is indeed announced for PS5 at Wednesday’s State of Play, the game could be coming to the console sooner rather than later.
Microsoft games coming to PS5
Since Microsoft first announced that it would release some exclusive games on PS5 and Nintendo Switch, the company has overhauled its release strategy and is committed to bringing more games to rival platforms.
In January this year, the company announced that it would release Playground Games’ award-winning racing game Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 in spring 2025. A few weeks later, Xbox confirmed that Age of Mythology: Retelling would be coming to PS5 in March, and that Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition would be coming in the spring.
Last month, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer highlighted the company’s shift in strategy when he said any game owned by Microsoft could be released on rival platforms. “We’ve found that we’re able to drive better business that allows us to invest in the great lineup of games that you see at Xbox developer directs. That’s our strategy. Our strategy is to make our games available,” Spencer said in a January interview.
During the interview, Spencer also suggested that Bethesda’s PC and Xbox exclusive space RPG Starfield might be coming to PS5 at some point, saying he had no reason to “put a fence around any game and say ‘This game isn’t going to go to a place where it’s going to find players and be a commercial success for us.'”
Senua’s Legend: Hellblade 2 will be released on Xbox Series S/X and PC on May 21, 2024. This narrative-driven action-adventure game is also available on Game Pass. It’s also worth noting that the game’s predecessor, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, was released on PC and PS4 in 2017, before coming to Xbox and Nintendo Switch. Microsoft acquired Hellblade developer Ninja Theory in 2018, resulting in Hellblade 2 being launched as a PC and Xbox Series S/X exclusive.
