The LSU women’s basketball team lost its only game of the week. South Carolina lost 79-72 in PMAC play on Saturday. The Tigers currently have an 8-4 record in SEC play with four games remaining in the divisional round.
LSU is fifth in the SEC standings after losing to the Gamecocks. South Carolina sits alone atop the standings with an 11-1 record. Head coach Dawn Staley’s team has won six straight.

Sunday was an eventful day for the SEC. Texas defeated Tennessee on Sunday, and the Longhorns are now alone in third place, one game ahead of the Volunteers. Shockingly, Georgia beat Vanderbilt. The Commodores remain second in the SEC, but Vandy is 10-3 on the year and now has little chance of a regular-season title.
With the win, Georgia improves to 6-6 in the SEC and 20-6 on the year.
LSU will travel to Oxford on Thursday to face the University of Mississippi in another ranked game. The Rebels sit in sixth place in the SEC with a 7-4 record, just behind the Tigers. The Tigers return to Baton Rouge on Sunday afternoon to take on Missouri State.
