Seahawks fans are ready to party: How the region is getting ready

Dozens of fans gathered at Issaquah City Hall today for a rally to support the Seattle Seahawks ahead of the Super Bowl. To commemorate the upcoming game, the city has been temporarily renamed 12saquah.

“Eagles hype” has gripped the area as local businesses prepare for large crowds and fans finalize viewing plans.

Local businesses in the area are bracing for a huge increase in customers. Danny Bohm, owner of Formula Brewing, said the company is preparing large quantities of food to meet demand.

“We’ll be using about 500 to 1,000 pounds of wings,” Bohm said. “Make sure there’s enough food. It’s like a sin. You can’t leave people without food.”

While many supporters headed to local venues, other fans decided to watch the tournament at home.

Seahawks fan Michael Wolf said he plans to prepare burgers and nachos.

“I think most bars and other places are going crazy,” he said.

For those planning to watch the game at a bar or restaurant, plan to arrive well in advance of kickoff.

Seahawks fans Kristin Millard and Keith Millard, who were watching the NFC Championship Game at the bar, said her group arrived four hours early despite having reserved seats.

This time the Millards will spend the Super Bowl in a house with their family.

“I’m really excited about it,” Keith said. “Can’t wait to see the results.”

Bohm also advises fans to contact their local contacts to secure a spot.

“Come early,” Bohm said. “If you have connections, you know people. Let them put in a good word for you or give up their seat.”

Fans are also encouraged to check out different locations if their first choice is full, as some bars just blocks away from crowded areas may have space available.

Law enforcement agencies in the area are preparing for the postgame environment. The Seattle Police Department announced it will focus on drunk driving patrols all day Sunday.

Police officials also asked fans not to climb the Pioneer Square pergola because the structure is old and expensive to repair.
