San Diego FC ended their MLS winning streak and clean sheet streak against FC Dallas on Saturday night with a 3-3 draw at Toyota Stadium on the back of a stellar performance from forward Petar Musa.
SDFC has made a perfect start to the 2026 league campaign with 3 wins and 3 losses, sitting atop the Western Conference standings with 9 points and not conceding a goal in the first three games.
SDFC defeated the defending champions of the Mexican Professional League Toluca 3-2 in the CONCACAF Champions Cup in midweek, and then traveled to Toyota Stadium for their second consecutive MLS away game against FC Dallas.

In the first two games, SDFC dominated the series, winning twice and scoring more than three goals in both games against FC Dallas. The last time SDFC played in Frisco, Texas, they left Toyota Stadium in June 2025, winning 3-2.
It took SDFC 21 minutes to score their first goal on Saturday, and it all started when Alex Mighten’s cross was deflected off defender Shaq Moore’s right forearm in the penalty area on 17 minutes. The game was sent to VAR and referee Ricardo Montero awarded a penalty kick.
SDFC midfielder Onni Valakari took responsibility for the shot, and FC Dallas goalkeeper Michael Collodi fired his second goal of the MLS season into the bottom left corner for a 1-0 lead.
After SDFC’s David Vazquez fired in a shot on 30 minutes, all FC Dallas defender Herman Johansson could do was drive him into the box and Ricardo Montero immediately pointed the penalty spot for the second time in the game.

This time it was striker Marcus Ingvartsen who took the penalty, doubling SDFC’s advantage on the night by firing it into the left side of the goal in the 31st minute.

The first half was not over yet, FC Dallas forward Petar Moussa got a goal back for the team in the 41st minute.
After his first shot was saved by SDFC goalkeeper Pablo Cisniega, he recovered the ball in the penalty area and fired the chance into the bottom right corner to send the game into the half-time break, and his second shot was not denied.
SDFC’s impressive run came to an end when they conceded their first goal of the 2026 Major League Soccer (MLS) season in the fourth round. Santiago has scored 10 goals in the league but conceded one of its own.

SDFC scored their third goal of the game early in the second half, off a brace from Onni Valakari.
In the 51st minute, Alex Madden passed a cross near the goal area, and Valacari completed the final blow. His shot bypassed FC Dallas defender Nolan Norris and bounced into the net, regaining FC Dallas’ two-goal advantage.
Just two minutes later, FC Dallas midfielder Bernard Kumongo was knocked down as he charged at SDFC goalkeeper Pablo Cisniega in the top corner of the box, earning his third penalty of the night.
Petar Musa, the only goal scorer of FC Dallas in this game, hit the top of the net after taking a penalty kick in the 84th minute, scoring twice of his own, reducing FC Dallas’ lead to one goal again.
In the last few minutes of stoppage time, FC Dallas equalized the score against SDFC with the connection of Kumongo and Musa, ensuring a point.

After a mistake in the SDFC defensive half, Bernard Kumungo gained possession and dribbled past several SDFC defenders before Petar Musa fired a rocket into the net in the 95th minute to end the game 3-3.

The final whistle ended with a 3-3 win, ending SDFC’s three-game winning streak in Major League Soccer (MLS) but remaining unbeaten in the fourth round of the league.
SDFC’s road trip continues on Wednesday night when they travel to the Estadio Nemesi Odiz for the second leg of their CONCACAF Champions League Round of 16 tie against Toluca FC with a 3-2 aggregate advantage.
