Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky’s chief of staff, R. Lamar Whitmer, has been fired amid multiple allegations against him, according to an investigative report obtained by 12News.
Borowski said that after a 65-day investigation, the city informed her of Whitmer’s firing.
“I will not tolerate inappropriate conversations in the workplace, I did not witness these behaviors and will not tolerate them,” the mayor said in a statement.
Reports show he allegedly engaged in unprofessional conduct, insubordination, political violations, conflicts of interest, abuse of power and possible misuse of city resources.
Witnesses said Whitmer admitted in part to making inappropriate comments involving sexual innuendo, race/ethnicity and insulting humor toward employees on multiple occasions.
The report states that his comments violated city policies related to workplace standards and ethical conduct.
Throughout the investigation, multiple people were interviewed, including Whitmer.
