The video, recorded shortly after the award ceremony, shows Chalulata holding up the prestigious trophy and admiring it carefully. Standing next to her is Devisha Shetty, wife of Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav. After a few words of conversation, Chalusa quickly wrapped the trophy in a T-shirt, seemingly to ensure it would not be damaged while being carried around during the celebrations.
This small but thoughtful gesture resonated strongly with fans.
After India’s historic win, Samson took to Instagram to pay his heartfelt tribute to his wife and the video soon went viral. The star batsman thanked Charulatha for her unwavering support and spoke about how she supported him at every stage of his career.
“From the day I met you until this day in my life…thank you so much for always being there for me, loving me for who I am, and being absolutely real and honest with me no matter what I say to the outside world. You’ve seen the best in me and the worst in me and yet you’ve still stood strong for me,” Samson wrote.
“Thank you for understanding the importance of cricket in my life and making it equally important in yours,” he added.
“You have the same passion and strong desires and dreams that I share at this moment. Thank you very much, my dear Pondattiiiiii.”
A huge tribute has been paid to Samson after a remarkable comeback from the Championship. Initially, the wicketkeeper-batsman was relegated to the bench role and featured in just one league match against Namibia in New Delhi, but he was reinstated in the starting XI for the Super Eights clash against Zimbabwe.
From that point on, Samson scripted one of the most dramatic comebacks in the tournament. He scored an unbeaten 97 against the West Indies in Kolkata, followed by back-to-back 89s in the semi-finals against England and the final against New Zealand.
By the end of the match, Samson had scored 321 runs in five innings with a strike rate of 199, winning the Player of the Tournament award and playing a central role in India’s third T20 World Cup win.
