A violent brawl broke out in San Jose over the weekend when multiple men were caught on camera attacking a man and pinning him to the floor, an incident that police said is being investigated as a potential anti-Semitic hate crime.
The San Jose Police Department (SJPD) said the fight, which reportedly escalated on Sunday afternoon on Santana Row, a popular shopping district, may have involved the suspect using anti-Semitic language.
“The victim claims the suspect used anti-Semitic language during the argument,” police said. “The assault unit is currently investigating the incident as a possible hate crime.”
Officials said the incident occurred when three men approached two males, both of whom later suffered minor injuries.

Video captured part of the altercation in the outdoor dining area. In the video, a young man can be seen repeatedly punching a man lying on the ground while another suspect grabs the victim’s feet and restrains him in place.

As onlookers watched, a voice in the background was heard yelling, “Stop! Stop!” before the suspect was seen fleeing the scene.

Authorities said the alleged victim used anti-Semitic language during the confrontation and the case is being investigated as a possible hate crime.
Police confirmed the suspect fled the scene before arriving.
Paramedics also assessed both victims at the scene for minor injuries.
Police said three male suspects reportedly approached the two victims before the argument escalated into a physical altercation.

According to X account @TheJewishAlly, the victim was attacked after being heard speaking Hebrew.
Police said the investigation is active and ongoing.
