Then something strange happened – the Sabers started winning, and they’ve barely stopped since.
Buffalo is 25-5-2 since Dec. 9, according to Saber.
The Sabers led their opponents 120-80 at the time.
Now, they are just two points shy of first place in the Atlantic Division.
Yes, it really doesn’t make sense, but the Sabers went from a team that had been the only underwhelming franchise over the past decade and a half to one of the best teams in hockey history.

Before the game, Eichel drew cheers as he took the ice with Tagg Thompson and Noah Hanifin to win the gold medal with Team USA.
Eichel got a lot of boos when he was on the puck after the game started.
The Sabers gave the fans plenty of cheers early on, taking a 3-0 lead.
In the end, they had to hold on for a 3-2 win, but a win is a win, no matter what it looks like — especially for the Sabres.
They’re used to it now, which sounds crazy. But at this point, it would be pretty surprising if Buffalo missed the playoffs.
From last place in early December to now – now everyone wants to know how far this run will go.
