Manchester United took control of the Champions League race with a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday.
With the victory, the Red Devils move three points clear of Emery’s side in the Premier League with eight games remaining.

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has told Sky Sports that he hopes his former side can move on and secure a place in Europe’s top club competition next season in light of Sunday’s match.
“I think they’re definitely a guarantee of that. Like we mentioned before, they have no distractions. They can focus on the game and get some recovery between games.
Roy Keane on Manchester United’s Champions League dreams
“Villa looked a bit flat today and Manchester United played very comfortably in the second half. If you give a player like Bruno [Fernandes] You will be punished with time and space.
“Like I said, I think Manchester United definitely deserve a Champions League spot.”

The game was far from plain sailing, especially in the second half when Ross Barkley canceled out Casemiro’s opener in questionable circumstances.
Many fans inside the Theater of Dreams were worried that the game would be surrendered, given the poor refereeing decisions and the fact that the visiting team had the advantage at that stage of the game.
Carrick changed Manchester United’s mentality
But the group of players never seemed to give up under their caretaker manager, with Bruno Fernandez once again inspiring the team to victory, aided by goals from Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Cescó.
However, Roy Keane still believes Carrick does not have the necessary resume to manage a club of Manchester United’s stature.

He praised the former England international’s influence but believes Ineos would be better off bringing in someone else in the summer, regardless of United’s performance at the end of the season.
“He came to the right time at the right time and did a fantastic job. I congratulate him. If he gets the job this summer I wish him all the best, but I think there are better options for the Manchester United manager’s job.”
Roy Keane on Carrick’s chances of getting top job
“If Michael Carrick’s name had been mentioned three months ago as Manchester United manager, everyone would have been convinced that he had no chance, that he was out. To manage Manchester United you need someone with trophies and European experience, and he doesn’t have that.”

“He’ll probably do it in a few years and then he’ll be someone people talk about. Even so, winning games now obviously gives him a great opportunity. He’s doing his job and I congratulate him for that, but there are other responsibilities that come with this role.”
Carrick’s former team-mate Wayne Rooney takes the opposite view, claiming it would be a big mistake if Carrick is not offered the permanent manager’s job in the summer.
Currently, Ineos is keeping its secrets close to its chest, monitoring several candidates, including Roberto De Zerbi.
