Robertson names two Liverpool youngsters who impressed him vs Wolves

Andy Robertson has praised two of Liverpool’s youngest players after their FA Cup win over Wolves, highlighting the impact that Leo Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni had on the game.

The Reds returned to Molineux just days after a painful Premier League defeat and produced a strong second half performance to win 3-1 and advance to the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Robertson played a key role in this game, scoring first and then assisting Salah.

However, the Scotland international is also keen to highlight the contribution of the younger players in the squad.

In an interview with All-Red Video after the game, Robertson particularly praised Ngumoha.

He said: “I thought [Ngumoha] very good. I think this was his best game in a Liverpool shirt. I think he made the right decision.

“He made the right decisions, when to pass, when to go up, when to go to the baseline. He did it all.”

The Liverpool left-back also revealed that senior players have been working closely with the young duo throughout the season.

Robertson explained that both the teenage winger and Nyoni are improving steadily as they gain more experience in the first team.

He added: “To his credit he’s been working hard and listening to all our lads. I think he’s been outstanding.

“I thought Trey was great when he came in, too.”

The experienced defender believes both players will play an important role moving forward.

He continued: “Those two are very important to the team. They’re still young but they’re growing as the season goes on.”

Ngumoha already poses selection dilemma for Slott

Ngumoha’s recent performance has begun to attract wider attention from the team.

The 17-year-old winger has made 18 appearances this season, playing 483 minutes in all competitions and scoring one goal, while Nyoni has made nine appearances and 220 minutes.

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy recently stated that the young attacker even gave Arne Slott a huge selection headache.
