Robert De Niro warned “MS NOW” anchor Nicole Wallace that President Donald Trump will not leave willingly at the end of his second term.
“He’s never leaving,” De Niro told Wallace in an exclusive “The Best People” clip obtained by TheWrap. “We have to let him go. He’s now joking about nationalizing elections. He’s not kidding. We’ve seen enough.”
The Oscar winner will appear on the host’s podcast on Monday, but in an exclusive video, De Niro questioned Wallace’s statement that he would be leaving within three years.
Trump joked that he would not rule out seeking a third term as president, despite being prohibited from doing so by the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. De Niro told Wallace that Americans should trust that he means what he says.
“Let’s not kid ourselves,” he added. “He’s not going away. It’s our responsibility to get rid of him.”

Wallace clarified what this hypothesis means for the upcoming midterm elections later this year. She questioned whether the results would be respected.
The “Casino” actor responded by saying that Trump will try to disrupt the midterm elections, so it’s up to American citizens to ensure the security of future elections.
The response came as Trump claimed earlier this month that he wanted to federalize all elections. The president told former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino in a February podcast that Republicans should “take over voting” and “nationalize” it, which in turn would give the Trump administration more control over the voting process.
“We have to make sure, like he’s trying to do now, that all polling places have people who can get there safely,” De Niro said. “That could mean citizens on the other side.”
“Peace organizations,” Wallace clarified.
“It depends on the people,” De Niro concluded.
The “Goodfellas” actor’s episode of “The Best People with Nicolle Wallace” will air Monday.
