The revolutionary Chinese ‘Gran Turismo’ supercar lets air flow through its body. The design of this revolutionary new supercar from Chinese company Xiaomi allows air to flow through the body rather than around it. The company, hitherto best known for its consumer electronics, showed off a full-scale concept model of its Vision Gran Turismo electric supercar at Mobile World Congress 2026. Rather than focusing solely on ultra-low drag or maximum downforce, the company says it aims to optimize the overall efficiency of the electric supercar. Viewed from the side, the cockpit features a teardrop profile with surfaces optimized to manage airflow. Air is channeled through sculpted ducts within the bodywork, entering at the front and exiting at the rear along carefully defined paths. The wheels also play an important role in the aerodynamic package. Xiaomi says its “accretion rim” uses a scroll-shaped cover to reduce drag while drawing air through turbine fins to cool the brakes. A magnetic system allows the cover to remain stationary as the wheels spin, creating what the company describes as a floating visual effect. The Vision Gran Turismo concept will initially be launched in the Gran Turismo racing video game, allowing players to experience Xiaomi’s vision for the future electric supercar in a virtual world.
