Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County (WBRE/Wyoming) — 28/22 News reporter Joe Mason shares what we know so far about the Luzerne County death investigation.
28/22 News is waiting for an update from Wilkes-Barre Police on the investigation into a death that occurred over the weekend.
A body was found near Thayer and Catlin avenues in South Wilkes-Barre.
Police were seen scouring nearby woods and the area was cordoned off for much of the day and into the evening.
Coroner calls for heavy police presence
Pennsylvania State Police told 28/22 News the Luzerne County Coroner and Wilkes-Barre Police are leading the investigation.
We spoke to several neighbors who said they were upset and wanted answers as soon as possible.
“It’s kind of disturbing to know that there’s a body about 100 feet away from where everybody lives and not know how or why it happened,” said Wilkes-Barre resident Jason Carr.
28/22 News also contacted the Luzerne County Coroner’s Office. They said this is an active investigation and no information will be released at this time.
