Chelsea are “interested” in midfielder Douglas Luiz and are “exploring” the possibility of loaning him out (that’s all, according to Fabrizio Romano), according to The Athletic and the BBC.
Of course, none of this means much, but meaning is never necessary to deflect market rumors and activity.

That’s not to say Douglas Luiz is a bad player per se, but beyond that he’s 27 and therefore certainly too old for Chelsea’s “plans” and we seem to be doing OK in midfield. Enzo Fernández and Moisés Caicedo are at the top of any team’s roster by any reasonable chance, and Andrey Santos is more than a capable backup for the two, with Reece James also seeing plenty of action there. Dario Esugo is also set to return to action. Romeo Lavia may be out as usual, but our depth chart at the position is no longer reliant on any of his abilities.
Unless we need a replacement for Facundo Buonanotte in “But, why?” Without the midfielder struggling for game time (and fitness) at Nottingham Forest and struggling for game time (and fitness) at parent club Juventus (hence the loan move to Forest in the first place), we might be able to get by.
