Even though the NBA trade deadline is approaching with the Golden State Warriors signing Kristaps Porzingis in a blockbuster deal, Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Steve Kerr still appear to be busy as the post-deadline buyout market heats up.
NBA insider Jack Fisher said the Warriors are aiming to “acquire Lonzo Ball” on the buyout market.

Ball was traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Utah Jazz before the deadline. However, the veteran point guard is not a good fit for the Jazz and will be waived and become a free agent.
After trading Jonathan Kuminga, Buddy Hield and Trayce Jackson-Davis and the deadline, the Warriors have two open roster spots. With two-way guard Pat Spencer already claiming one of those spots, the Warriors can add Ball to their final remaining roster spot.
The 28-year-old point guard averaged 4.6 points, shooting 30.1% from the field, 27.2% from three-point range, 4 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 35 games for the Cavaliers.

Ball will compete with Spencer, Brandin Pozzimski and De’Anthony Melton in Golden State’s guard rotation for playing time behind Stephen Curry.
