The New England Patriots will sign three-time first-team All-Pro safety Kevin Byard to a one-year, $9 million contract, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Wednesday.
Baird worked with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel for multiple seasons during his time with the Tennessee Titans. So it’s going to be a reunion between the coaches and the players. As for the Patriots, they will have one of the best safeties in the NFL over the past decade.

Baird is a proven playmaker who led the NFL in interceptions last season despite being 32 years old. The former Chicago Bear will take over the role left by Jaylin Hawkins, who is still on the free agent market looking for a new home.
