Rep. Lauren Boebert is encouraging congressional staffers who have been abused or harassed in the workplace to tell their stories as she will ensure they are in the spotlight while remaining anonymous when necessary.
“If your boss mistreats you and other people in the office, tell someone,” Boebert told The Pablo Report. “If you want to stay anonymous, stay anonymous. Let us loudmouths help you get it out. Happy to issue a receipt on anyone’s behalf.”
It should be noted that Rep. Lauren Boebert insists she is not selective about who needs to contact her. Whether it’s an issue involving chiefs of staff or other leadership staff on Capitol Hill, Democratic and Republican staffers can come forward.
“Whether it’s a Democrat or a Republican, you know, even if it’s another staff member, a chief of staff, someone, a senior staff member, if you have something, if you’ve been wronged, my door is absolutely open and I’m going to listen,” she said. “If you ask for anonymity, that’s what you’re going to get.”
Colorado’s Republican representatives also discussed how whistleblowing has historically been a danger to careers in the Capitol, adding that the environment has gotten better for accusers.
“It looks like some of the people who pointed the finger at Eric Swalwell got jobs pretty quickly,” Boebert said. “Things have changed from previous Congresses, and people can ruin their careers by doing the right thing.”
