The price of the Redmi Note 9 Pro is the most interesting thing about this smartphone. Priced starting at Rs., the Redmi Note 9 Pro offers great specifications. 12,999. One of the highlights of this smartphone is its quad rear camera setup, which delivers some pretty decent results, especially considering the price point. In our review, we noticed that the Redmi Note 9 Pro’s camera delivered decent results in most situations, but struggled in some, especially when it came to low-light photography. Enter the Google Camera apk for Redmi Note 9 Pro, commonly known as GCam Mod.
Everyone knows that the cameras on Pixel smartphones are well-tuned, and this mod brings the Google Camera app to the Redmi Note 9 Pro. GCam Mod often automatically improves your smartphone’s camera performance thanks to Google’s image processing engine. We tested the Google camera module on the OnePlus 7 Pro and found it to be very useful. It ensures more accurate color reproduction, improved detail, and better low-light shooting. This is why we are eager to install Google Camera apk on Redmi Note 9 Pro
In this article, we will tell you how to install the GCam Mod on your new Redmi Note 9 Pro and give those rear cameras a much-needed performance boost. The process is fairly simple and does not require you to root or unlock your smartphone’s bootloader. Now please keep in mind that this is a community mod that is not officially supported. That’s why it currently has a lot of issues, and although we observed an improvement in image quality with the Redmi Note 9 Pro equipped with the Google Camera mod, quite a few camera modes didn’t work properly in our tests. We will continue to update this article with new versions of Google Camera for the Redmi Note 9 Pro and update our thoughts on the performance of each new version.

Redmi Note 9 Pro Google Camera apk first impressions
The latest GCam Mod 7.3.018 for Redmi Note 9 Pro brings features like 24FPS video recording, common faces to help you take Top Shot photos, and touch and hold shortcut keys in the shutter button to take Top Shot photos. This is our first impression.
After installing the GCam Mod on the Redmi Note 9 Pro, we noticed that only the main camera is active by default. If you want to use a different lens, such as a telephoto lens or a wide-angle lens, you’ll need to go into the camera settings. To do this, click down arrow icon and click at the top of the screen settings icon > advanced > Auxiliary camera > Open show button.
However, in our case, the other lenses didn’t work well and switching to the wide-angle camera caused the app to crash. When using 2x zoom, the app switches to the depth camera since there is no telephoto lens. Ideally it should only do digital zoom. On top of that, we also couldn’t use the macro camera because there was no setting to enable that lens. Although GCam does support HDR+ photography, you still need to turn it on manually by: set up > advanced > Pixel AWB in HDR+ and turn it on.
As for results, detail is slightly better and colors are more natural when taking stills with the main camera compared to the regular camera app. However, the app still has its limitations and is not very stable, so we don’t recommend relying solely on this app for all your camera needs. If you want to try some of the features on your Pixel phone, be sure to give them a try. Also, if you are already using an old version on GCam, make sure to clear its data and uninstall it before installing the new version.
We were looking forward to trying the Night Sight mode for low-light photos and astrophotography, but it crashed the app. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Google Camera mod is still in beta and we look forward to seeing this app work its magic once these bugs are fixed.
