Real Madrid scouts spotted a Newcastle United star at St James’ Park last night, according to The Sun. The Magpies lost 3-1 to Manchester City in the FA Cup fifth round, with the visitors proving themselves against Eddie Howe’s side. However, the La Liga club will not care about the result as they come to dominate Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali. The Italian has been one of the best players in the Premier League and Madrid are preparing to join the race for him ahead of the summer transfer window.

Tonali is also a wanted man in the Premier League, with the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal believed to be monitoring his situation. His current weekly salary at Newcastle is about £150,000, and his contract will not expire until 2030. Real Madrid and other big names are more than willing to double his wages, but the 25-year-old may consider leaving for more than just the money. Tonali will be eager to play regularly and win Champions League and Scudetto titles, something Toonali may not be able to offer him right now.
After 29 games, they are 12th in the league table, nine points outside the top five, and may need to win all nine remaining games to secure a Champions League spot next season. Newcastle United will face Barcelona in the last 16 of Europe’s elite competition later this month and will need to be in perfect form over both legs to advance. Real Madrid and other suitors will continue to focus on big games for Tonali, and keeping him beyond the summer could prove tricky for Newcastle. They hope to qualify for European football next season to boost their chances and the Italian and his team-mates must step up to make that happen.
