The 2-1 victory was achieved under unusual circumstances. In the last league game against Celta Vigo, Alonso was forced to take a shot, resulting in a serious shortage of left backs in the team.
Alvaro Carreras and Fran Garcia were both sent off in that game, leaving the Real Madrid boss without any other senior substitutes against Alaves. Since there was no room for improvisation, the solution came from Castile.
A moment he will never forget
Valdepenas made his first-team debut and, remarkably, he was trusted from the start.
The young defender came on at left-back and was on the pitch for 78 minutes, holding his own in a game that required composure and discipline.

Speaking to Real Madrid TV after the final whistle, he made the emotional weight of the moment clear.
Talking about the significance of his debut to him, Valdepenas said: “It’s a dream, any kid’s dream.
“I’ve been dreaming of this since I started playing football and today I achieved it. My feelings are indescribable and I’m very excited to be honest.”
The youngster then reflected on the early jitters that naturally come with such a milestone, while also highlighting the support he received from those around him.
“I was nervous at first, I’m not going to lie, but my teammates calmed me down and I thank them and the captain.
“It’s not every day that you make your debut at Real Madrid, especially as a starter, but thanks to everyone I’m handling it very well.”

Beyond the performance itself, Valdepenas is already thinking about preserving the memory.

When asked about his first jersey, he revealed its special place in his life, saying:
“This jersey is going to be in my room. I’m going to hang it there so I can see it every day and remember this day.”
Finally, the defender turned his attention to those who have walked the same path as he has, offering words of encouragement to academy players still waiting for their chance.
Based on his own experience, he concluded: “I’ve been here since I was a kid and we put in a lot of hard work. We have to be consistent and believe in that.”
