The Ravens are hiring former Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter as their new head coach, according to multiple sources.

The hiring comes after the firing of former head coach John Harbaugh, who later accepted the Giants’ head coaching position.

Minter previously served as Baltimore’s defensive assistant and defensive backs coach from 2017 to 2020, which brings him back to a familiar organization.

In his first year with the Chargers, the defense led the league in points allowed per game (17.7). Last season, Minter’s teams ranked fifth in total defense and ninth in scoring defense.

Under Minter’s guidance, several Chargers defensive players earned All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors.

With Minter headed to the Ravens, the Bolts will now begin their search for the team’s next defensive coordinator.
