Rams incentives tracker: Which players will hit or miss big bonuses?

The Los Angeles Rams take on the Arizona Cardinals at SoFi Stadium on Sunday in Week 18 in a divisional round game that doesn’t mean much, but Sean McVay’s team is looking to get back on track after consecutive losses.

The game will be Los Angeles’ preseason finale, meaning multiple players will have a chance to receive contract incentives through 2025.

Let’s go over all of the Rams’ contract incentives and see where they stand heading into Week 18.

Lieutenant Alaric Jackson

  • Pro Bowl and All-Pro First Team bonuses of $1 million

Jackson didn’t make the Pro Bowl, so he’ll miss out on a $1 million bonus, but if he plays about 50 percent of Sunday’s games, he could earn $500,000. Jackson was limited in practice with a knee injury and did not play last week.

WR Davante Adams

  • 60% of offensive snaps and divisional round wins, $250,000 bonus

  • 60% of offensive snaps and conference round wins, $250,000 bonus

  • Bonuses for 60% of offensive snaps and Super Bowl wins are $250,000

Adams hasn’t made the Pro Bowl yet, so he won’t get that $250,000. He has played less than 60% of the team’s games so far, so if he doesn’t play enough games, he won’t get the remaining $750,000 even if the team wins the Super Bowl.

OT Rob Havenstein

  • 80% of offensive snaps cost $250,000

  • 85% of offensive snaps cost $500,000

  • 90% of offensive plays cost $1 million

  • $1.5 million for 90% of offensive snaps and a playoff berth

  • $2M for 90% of offensive snaps and Super Bowl appearance

Havenstein remains on injured reserve and his playing time incentives are lower than all incentives, so he won’t see any of those bonuses.

DL Puna Ford

  • To cost $250,000 to play 50% of defensive snaps, the Rams defense must rank in the top 13 in net yardage

  • With 50% of defensive snaps costing $250,000, the Rams must rank in the top 13 in net rushing yards

  • With 55% of defensive snaps costing $500,000, Rams must improve defensive net yardage starting in 2024

Ford’s playing time is below the 50% threshold, and he likely won’t offer those incentives unless he plays nearly every game on Sunday.

CB Darius Williams

  • 65% of defensive snaps cost $500,000

  • $750,000 to play 70% of defensive snaps

  • $1 million for 75% of defensive snaps

  • $2 million for 80% of defensive snaps

  • 80% of defensive snaps cost $500,000, Rams make playoffs

Williams is shooting less than 50% on defensive snaps, so he won’t receive an award.

TE Tyler Higbee

  • 300 receiving yards $125,000

  • 400 receiving yards $250,000

  • 500 receiving yards $375,000

  • 600 receiving yards $500,000

  • 600 receiving yards, $875,000, Rams make playoffs

Higbee has just 190 receiving yards this season, and while his 21-day practice window opens this week, he has until Saturday to activate and finish with a 110-yard day.

C. Coleman Shelton

  • 90% of offensive plays cost $1 million

  • With 80 percent of the offense costing $250,000, the Rams need to improve their net yardage from 2024 to 2025.

  • At $250,000 to run 80 percent of their offense, the Rams need to finish in the top 13 in net yards allowed.

  • At $250,000 to run 80 percent of their offense, the Rams need to finish in the top 11 in net yards allowed.

  • At $250,000 to run 80 percent of their offense, the Rams need to finish in the top 9 in net yards allowed.

Shelton played 98.9% of the team’s offensive efficiency. They will enter the top 9 this year and improve from last year. He has guaranteed that he will make an additional $2 million.

S Camron Cole

  • 85% of defensive snaps cost $1.5 million

  • It costs $500,000 to play 85% of defensive snaps and the Rams have to make the playoffs.

This year, Cole has played about 99 percent of the team’s defensive snaps and will receive an additional $2 million as they lock up a playoff spot.

QB Jimmy Garoppolo

  • 35% of offensive snaps cost $250,000

  • 45% of offensive snaps cost $250,000

  • 55% of offensive snaps cost $250,000

  • 65% of offensive snaps cost $250,000

  • 25% of offensive plays in a win cost $20,588

  • $100,000 for 50% of the offensive possessions in a win

Garoppolo has played in just 1 percent of the team’s offense this season, so he won’t receive any of those awards unless he plays a majority of the game against the Cardinals.

CB Akello Witherspoon

  • 55% of defensive snaps cost $250,000

  • 60% of defensive snaps cost $250,000

  • 65% of defensive snaps cost $250,000

  • 70% of defensive snaps cost $250,000

  • 75% of defensive snaps cost $250,000 the Rams need to make the playoffs

  • 75% of defensive snaps cost $250,000 Rams need to win a playoff game

  • 75% of defensive snaps cost $250,000 Rams need to reach Super Bowl

Witherspoon has spent most of the season on injured reserve, so he won’t make any bonuses as he’ll miss the playing time threshold.
