Quebec will feel the effects of the U.S. winter storm on Monday as moisture north of the border interacts with cold Arctic air over the province.
Monday’s commute is expected to be challenging, making travel difficult with heavy snow falling in the area.

Snow pushes into extremely cold air mass
Temperatures will be very cold in Quebec this weekend, with daytime highs of -20 degrees and nighttime lows of -30 degrees.
Montreal is expected to see a high of -20°C on Saturday, which could be the coldest the city has seen since January 6, 2018.

Quebec Sunday night temperatures
A powerful and potentially devastating winter storm in the northern United States will bring heavy snow to southern Quebec. Rain is expected to start Sunday night and continue into Monday.
Initially, temperatures in the -20s will lead to lighter snowfall amounts. At such cold temperatures, snowflake formation is much less efficient because cold air hotels hold significantly less moisture.

Snow in Quebec until Monday
We will see snowfall rates increase overnight into Monday as temperatures “warm” into the low teens, creating a more efficient air mass for producing snowflakes.
Snowfall totals will range from 5 to 15 centimeters across the region, with higher amounts closer to the international border. However, while snow accumulation is expected to be relatively low, the fluffy nature of the snow will lead to blowing and drifting snow.
Reduced visibility will make travel hazardous throughout southern Quebec until Monday, which could impact your Monday morning commute.
