When he told Barry Odom and the staff that he was going to be a Boilermaker, “they had 20 people there celebrating.”

Purdue plans to play Goldsbury at safety, but could also develop into a package on offense.
“I think the new head coach has been paying attention to me since I signed with the University of Mississippi,” Goldsberry said. “He and I have a great relationship. It’s cool to be close to home. In-state.
“I really like all the new staff, which is great.”
Goldsberry’s father, Jon, played running back for Purdue University before joining the NFL. The younger Goldsberry has been one of Indiana’s best two-way players over the past few seasons. He was also an outstanding wrestler and was an All-State selection in the track and field steeplechase event.
Quarterback Goldsberry passed for 5,310 yards and 68 touchdowns, 4,614 yards and 18 scores. He had 252 tackles, five forced fumbles and four interceptions.

Goldsberry looks forward to helping Purdue rebuild it.
“They’re losers,” Goldsberry said. “We got a good group of guys from the transfer portal and the high school and we can make some progress over the next two years or so to get the program back to where it was before.”
Goldsberry has fond memories of growing up at Purdue.
“I remember going to games as a kid with my dad and my friends,” Goldsberry said. “I was there for a couple of frustrating games, including a Michigan State game where I had to run out onto the field. Go through the tunnel and it was just a great time. It was a special thing. Been with my family for a while. I had a lot of friends there and a lot of people from my school decided to go to school there because it was such a good institution.
“It’s going to be a good experience.”
Rivals ranks Goldsberry as the No. 31 safety in the country. He emerged as one of the jewels of Purdue’s 2026 class.
