Analyst Bill Simmons weighed in on the latest episode of his podcast, The Bill Simmons Podcast, saying this potential scenario is unprecedented for the NBA.
“There was a burning account allegedly associated with Durant,” Simmons said. “I thought it was a Twitter account? But it’s an account that purports to be him, and there’s a lot of indication that it’s him, just (expletive) – talking to a bunch of people that he plays with or against.”
Simmons added: “I think it might have been some smoke from the fire and if this is all true and he’s talking about guys he plays with now, I don’t know if we’ve ever been in a situation like this.”
He continued: “The social media scandal exposed someone’s tweets/texts where he was talking about, belittling, other people on his team, and then he has to go to the game with him tomorrow night. I think we’ve moved on to that.”

The Burning account in question, @gethigher77 on X, recently made negative comments about Durant’s current teammates with the Houston Rockets, Jabari Smith and Alperon Sengon.
It also posted negative posts about Kyrie Irving and Devin Booker, Durant’s former Nets and Suns teammates.
Durant has not responded to the incident, and there is no actual evidence that he was behind it, slamming Durant’s teammates past and present.
But that hasn’t stopped speculation.
After Houston concludes the NBA All-Star Game, it will play away against the Charlotte Hornets on February 19.
