Championship contenders Coventry City will travel to Ashton Gate tomorrow to face Bristol City, who have been in poor form recently.
The Sky Blues currently sit five points clear at the top of the Championship table, with 71 points from 35 games so far this season. Frank Lampard’s side suffered a slight setback at the start of 2026, winning just two of their first seven league games of the year, but a 3-1 victory over second-placed Middlesbrough put them back in contention for the title, followed by wins over West Brom, Sheffield United and Stoke City.

Bristol City, meanwhile, find themselves tenth in the table, seven points adrift of a play-off spot due to recent poor results. Manchester City crashed out of the Emirates FA Cup after the Robins lost 1-0 to Port Vale on Tuesday night.
Coventry host a sell-out away side tomorrow afternoon, with more than 3,000 fans heading to Bristol in the hope they can cheer their side on to a 22nd league win of the season and extend their lead. By contrast, the mood among Bristol City fans in recent weeks has been one of frustration as poor results and a perceived unambitious January transfer window saw star players Zak Weiner and Anis Mehmedi leave the club for play-off rivals Wrexham and Ipswich Town respectively.
Both managers have met with the media ahead of the game, with Gerhard Struber confirming that West Ham loanee George Ursey will be ready and available for this weekend’s clash, while Scotland defender Ross McCrory remains a doubt.
Meanwhile, Frank Lampard insists there are many aspects to Coventry City’s journey to Ashton Gate that will ensure his side’s clash with Bristol City will be a “tough challenge”, with the Sky Blues boss describing the Reds as a “good team”.

Coventry won 1-0 in December thanks to a second-half goal from Efron Mason-Clarke. The Robins have not beaten this West Midlands side since 2023, when they won 1-0 at home themselves. Historically, the spoils have been fairly evenly distributed, with Bristol City winning 25 of their 79 games to date and Coventry 28, with 26 ending in draws.
The match will be played at Ashton Gate Stadium on Saturday, March 7, with kick-off set for 3pm (UK time).
