Popular outdoor sports retailer files Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Typically, when consumers order from trusted websites, they have little concern about whether the items they purchase will end up in their homes.

This is different from the traditional retail model, where customers only pay after they actually get the goods. It’s a system that requires a level of trust because you’re paying for something you don’t yet own, and the company can theoretically take your money but not actually send you anything.

Of course, this would be a terrible business model. Word of mouth from consumers will spread, complaints will be filed with the Better Business Bureau, and people will stop ordering.
