Pokémon Presents: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Gets Switch 2 Gameplay, New Puzzle Title Released and More

Pokémon Presents aired on Tuesday, bringing updates on Pokémon Legends: ZA, the Pokémon Concierge Netflix show, and a new look at Pokémon Champions. The Pokémon Company also announced a new puzzle game, now available on mobile platforms and Nintendo Switch.

The 24-minute presentation shared details about the 2025 Pokémon World Championships and showcased the new stop-motion animated series Pokémon Stories: The Unfortunate Adventures of Sirfetch’d and Pichu. Pokémon Legends: ZA New Gameplay

Developer Game Freak has revealed a new gameplay and story trailer for its upcoming mainline Pokémon game running on Nintendo Switch 2. The studio clarified the game’s story and shared details about the NPC allies that will appear in the game and become part of the player’s team.

Lumiose City is a Paris-inspired game setting that will bring a unique experience to both day and night gaming. During the day, players can explore the city and find new Pokémon for their team. At night, they can participate in Pokémon battles. The video also shows off Mega Dragon, a new Mega Pokémon coming to the game.

Pokémon Legends: ZA will launch on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on October 16th.

Pokémon Champions Game Overview

The Pokémon Champion is revealed during February’s Pokémon Gift event. The fighting game got a gameplay overview in the latest episode of the show. Gameplay shares details on recruiting Pokémon for your team and battling trainers around the world in ranked mode.

Players can also participate in private battles with friends. The game will allow trainers to raise Pokémon, upgrade their abilities, and teach them new moves. Pokémon Champions has no release date yet, but the game will launch on Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch in 2026.

Pokémon Friends Announced and Released

The Pokémon Company announced a new puzzle game at the showcase, now available to play on Android, iOS, and Switch. Pokémon Friends is a free puzzle game for young players. It features various puzzles that players can solve to obtain in-game Pokémon plush toys. As your collection grows, these plush toys can be used to decorate your in-game plush room.

Pokémon TV Series Announcement

The Pokémon Presents presentation confirmed that Pokémon Concierge will return to Netflix, with new episodes launching on September 4th. The series also received a new stop-motion animated series from Aardman Animation Studios. Pokémon Legends: The Unfortunate Adventures of Sirfetch’d and Pichu will be released in 2027.

“We’re going to be putting some very special Pokémon front and center as the heroes of our show. It’s going to take place in an area that we care deeply about,” Aardman co-founder and creative director Peter Lord said on the show.

Other Pokémon updates

A new update for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has been confirmed, with a new Tera Raid battle set to begin on Wednesday, July 23. The company also shared details about the game’s Switch 2 update, which improves resolution and frame rates.

The show also introduced updates to mobile games such as Pokémon GO, Pokémon Sleep, Pokémon Unite and Pokémon Masters EX, and announced the release date for a new expansion pack for Pokémon TCG.
