Facebook Messenger Soundmojis: A Step by Step Guide on How to Use

Facebook launched the Soundmoji feature for Messenger users earlier this month. As the name suggests, the feature provides audio and emojis to facilitate conversations between friends. Different types of sound expressions have been provided, including farts, drums, laughter, violins, ghosts, shock, kisses, and more. Sound emojis are essentially higher-level emojis that allow you to send short sound clips simultaneously in Messenger chats. They’re now part of the media content users can send to friends on Facebook Messenger, sitting alongside options like stickers, GIFs, and emojis.

How to use Soundmoji on Facebook Messenger

Soundmoji are currently only available on the mobile app version of Facebook Messenger, we couldn’t find them on the Facebook web version. Users currently cannot create custom Soundmojis, but the library of currently available custom Soundmojis will be updated regularly with new sound effects and famous soundtrack clips. Each sound is represented by an emoji, retaining the visual emoticons we all love while bringing the sound into the mix.

Soundmojis range from claps, crickets, drums and evil laughter, to audio clips from artists like Rebecca Black and TV shows and movies like Universal Pictures’ F9, NBC and Universal Television’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and Netflix and Shondaland’s “Bridgerton,” Facebook said. To use Soundmojis, the new emoji tool in Facebook Messenger, follow these simple steps.

  1. Go to Facebook Messenger and open a chat room where you want to send a Soundmoji.

  2. click smiley face Open the expression menu in the chat bar at the bottom.

  3. On the Expression menu, click speaker icon.

  4. Here, you can preview your Soundmoji repeatedly before deciding which one to send.

  5. Click send After making a decision, icon. Soundmoji will be sent to the recipient via audio playback.
