Rep. Ilhan Omar and Rep. Nancy Mace have engaged in a war of words on social media after the latter shared a post saying she was sending her “thoughts and prayers” to Rep. Ilhan Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib after hearing the news of the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Rep. Mace, a Republican from South Carolina, shared a post on
The post referred to a Fox News graphic claiming Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was dead, which was intended to mock the two congresswomen, as Rep. Ilhan Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib have been outspoken critics of the Israeli government’s military activity against Palestinians.
Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar responded directly to the post.
“I hope you were not drunk and took the advice of staff, Rashida and I do not know this man and are convinced he does not care about us,” Rep. Ilhan Omar wrote to Rep. Mace. “Staff has warned you not to drink too much and stay off social media when intoxicated. I pray that you find peace of mind and respect for yourself during his holy month.”
