PlayStation Portal Remote Player With 8-Inch LCD Display Launched in India: Price, Features

PlayStation Portal, Sony’s game streaming device that allows players to remotely access PS5 games, has finally arrived in India. PlayStation India on Friday announced the launch of the handheld console in the Indian market. The device launched in the U.S. and globally late last year. While the PlayStation Portal remote player cannot run games natively, it allows users to stream PS5 games via console quality control over a Wi-Fi connection. The device comes with an 8-inch LCD display and sports DualSense wireless controller features such as support for haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in games.

The PlayStation Portal Remote Player is priced at Rs. India is 18,999. The handheld device will be available in single white color from August 3 at Sony Centres, Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance, Vijay Sales, Blinkit and other participating retailers.

PlayStation Portal Specifications, Features

The PlayStation Portal remote player features an 8-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 60Hz. The device is capable of running PS4 and PS5 games installed on Sony’s current consoles at Full HD resolution up to 60 fps. There are also touch areas on the left and right sides of the screen.

The device comes with DualSense wireless controller features such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in compatible games.

Connectivity options on the PlayStation Portal include a USB Type-C port for charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Sony’s proprietary PS Link feature, and Wi-Fi 5. The device does not have Bluetooth connectivity.

PlayStation Portal cannot run games natively, but it does allow players to stream games from their PS5 library over their home Wi-Fi. Therefore, users can play PS5 games on PlayStation Portal even if someone else is using a TV connected to the console.

PlayStation Portal works via Sony’s Remote Play feature. To set up remote play, players must first turn on their PS5 or put it into rest mode. The console must be connected to the Internet and updated to the latest version of system software.
