Pistons rout Nets 130-77 in most-lopsided victory in franchise history

DETROIT (AP) — Jalen Duren, an Eastern Conference All-Star off the bench, scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and the Detroit Pistons beat the Brooklyn Nets 130-77 on Sunday night for the most lopsided victory in franchise history.

The 53-point lead surpassed the previous record of 52 points set in Boston’s 118-66 victory on Jan. 31, 2003. On January 21, the Nets lost to New York 120-66, losing by 54 points.

Detroit star Cade Cunningham, who was earlier selected as the Eastern Conference All-Star starter, contributed 18 points, 12 assists and 4 steals. The Eastern Conference-leading Pistons have won consecutive games with 36 wins and 12 losses. They defeated the Golden State Warriors on Friday night to finish 2-1 in three games.

Cunningham scored 13 points, 10 assists and 4 steals in the first half, and the Pistons led 67-44. Osar Thompson hit a half-court shot at the halftime buzzer.

Detroit outscored Brooklyn 33-18 in the third quarter to bring the score to 100-62. The Pistons’ largest lead is 55 points.

Cam Thomas and Drake Powell each scored 12 points for Brooklyn. The Nets have a record of 13 wins and 35 losses.

Egor Deming went 0 for 4 from three-point range, ending his NBA rookie streak of 34 consecutive games with at least three points. He broke the record Friday night in Utah.

Nets scoring leader Michael Porter Jr. was absent due to personal reasons.
