PFL Dubai results: Ramazan Kuramagomedov wins title, shockingly retires

There’s a new PFL welterweight champion — and he’s retired.

Ramazan Kuramagomedov’s high-level match against Shamil Musaev did not surprise the experts. Shockingly, after Kuramagomedov (14-0) defeated Musayev (20-1-1) by unanimous decision (48-46, 48-46, 48-46), he announced that this fight would be his last.

The inaugural welterweight title fight takes place on Saturday at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Kuramagomedov showed a comprehensive attack. He makes things ugly when he needs to and avoids Musayev’s high-pressure finishing ability. In the championship game, Kuramagomedov suffered a brutal illegal knee injury that the broadcast believed caused a serious arm injury.

Still, Kulamagomedov persisted. When the dust settled, he was a champion, and he could add another PFL title to the trophy case that already contained Bellator gold.
