Pennsylvania distribution center’s closure to affect 400+ employees

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) – A major retailer will soon close another of its distribution centers in Pennsylvania, resulting in the layoff of more than 400 people.

abc27 news previously reported that Saks Global, the parent company of luxury department store Saks Fifth Avenue, filed for Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas on January 13, 2026.

Weeks after the filing, a warning notice was filed showing the closure of two Saks Fifth Avenue properties in Luzerne and Montgomery counties.

These include a warehouse at 250 Highland Park Avenue in Wilkes-Barre Township and a retail store at 2 Barra Plaza in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania.

According to these warning notices, the closure of the Luzerne County store will affect 155 employees and will begin on April 11 and end on April 30, 2026. The Montgomery County store will close on April 11, 2026, impacting 50 employees.

Earlier this week, Saks & Company, LLC, the e-commerce arm of Saks Fifth Avenue, filed a new warning notice saying they will be closing another distribution center, this time in Foster Township, Schuylkill County.

According to this warning notice, the distribution center located at 25 Keystone Boulevard will cease operations starting on May 3 and officially close on May 31, 2026. The new closure will affect 435 employees.

According to Saks Global, they are the largest multi-brand luxury retailer, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks OFF 5TH, Last Call and Horchow.
