Five years ago, Stefon Diggs stood on the field completely alone, watching from a distance.
Of course, he was thrilled when Diggs finally broke through and reached his first Super Bowl with the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon.
“It was all worth it, man. All the hard work. We have one more,” Diggs said, fighting back tears. “I just want to be thankful and enjoy the moment and thank God. It’s hard, man.”
Diggs and the Patriots secured a spot in Super Bowl LX by defeating the Denver Broncos 10-7 in a snowball fight at Mile High’s Empower Field on Sunday. This marks the team’s first Super Bowl appearance since the Tom Brady era. Diggs had five catches for 17 yards in the win.

Diggs is completing his 11th season in the league. Although his last stop with the Houston Texans ended prematurely, he signed a three-year, $63.5 million contract with the Patriots last offseason. Diggs tore his ACL in Week 8 last season.
Diggs has proven himself to be one of the best wide receivers in NFL history. He had seven seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards and set multiple team and NFL records while with the Bills. For example, he is one of four players in league history to have at least 100 catches in four consecutive seasons. He has 1,013 yards and four touchdowns this season.
“They said I was brainwashed and said I didn’t feel this way anymore. I just wanted to prove it to myself that I was who I said I was… this team gave me a chance. I just wanted to make them proud,” Diggs said.
But he always missed out on the Super Bowl. Sunday was Diggs’ 17th career postseason game and his third in the conference championship game. The 2020 season was the last time Diggs played in the conference championship game, remaining on the field at Arrowhead Stadium to watch the festivities after his team was eliminated.
Now, with Drake Maye leading the offense, Diggs finally has a chance to get a ring. He did it.
