Patriots Wednesday Week 17 injury report: Team gets surprise return

The New England Patriots were without multiple starters for Wednesday’s practice.

They suffered serious injuries in Sunday Night Football’s win over the Baltimore Ravens. That led to multiple roster changes before the team’s Week 17 rematch against the New York Jets on Tuesday.

Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel revealed veteran linebacker Robert Spillane needed a “Christmas miracle” to practice this week. Running back TreVeyon Henderson, linebacker Jared Wilson and wide receiver Kayshon Boutte are also being treated for concussions.

Granted, there was some good news Wednesday, with Henderson participating in practice as a limited participant. He wore a red non-contact jersey, a sign that he’s further along in concussion treatment than Wilson and Bute. The Patriots have eight players listed as not participating in practice.
