Yes, the Green Bay Packers are 9-3-1, and yes, they just beat the Chicago Bears at home to take the lead in the NFC North. Yes, they are currently the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs.

Even with those caveats, it’s still a bit surprising to see the Packers emerge as favorites heading into their Week 15 road game against the Denver Broncos. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Green Bay was favored by 2.5 points as of Monday morning, making them the favorite to open every game in the 2025 season.

Meanwhile, if this line holds, this will be the fifth time the Broncos are underdogs in 2025. Their previous four games are as follows:

  • Week 3: DEN +3 at LAC (Push, Chargers win 23-20)

  • Week 5: PHI’s DEN +4 (Broncos win 21-17)

  • Week 9: DEN +2.5 at HOU (Broncos win 18-15)

  • Week 11: DEN +4 vs. KC (Broncos win 22-19)

What’s surprising again is that the Broncos have won nine straight but are underdogs at home. However, their results have dipped of late and despite a stellar defense they have escaped with some extremely lucky wins in recent weeks.

Only one of the Broncos’ last five wins has been by more than three points, and that was yesterday’s 24-17 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. Previously, they defeated the Washington Commanders 27-26 in overtime due to a failed two-point conversion, and had consecutive three-point victories over Kansas City, Las Vegas and Houston. Denver also needed one of the NFL’s most ridiculous fourth-quarter comebacks, beating the New York Giants 33-32 in Week 7 when they scored All 33 of their points came in the final 15 minutes.

Perhaps a combination of those reasons — plus the fact that the Packers appear firmly back on track after three straight division games — is why Green Bay will head to Denver as the favorite on Sunday.

However, both the Packers and Broncos defenses are playing well and the game is expected to be low scoring. The total score was just 42.5 points, which would be one of the Packers’ lowest scores of the season. Green Bay ranks sixth in scoring defense, while Denver ranks fourth.

It is worth noting that in the historical encounters between these two teams, the home team has always dominated. In 15 regular season games between these teams, the visiting team has only one victory, a 19-13 victory by the Denver Packers in 2007. Green Bay won that game early in overtime on an 82-yard touchdown pass from Brett Favre to Greg Jennings.
