Packers QBs coach to interview for Eagles OC job

As the NFL’s coaching carousel continues to spin, the Green Bay Packers are starting to see members of their assistant coaching staff leave for other jobs. On Monday, news broke that DB coach Ryan Donald and LB coach Sean Duggan will follow Jeff Hafley to the Miami Dolphins, while offensive coordinator Adam Sternavich is interviewing for a playmaking position with the Tennessee Titans.

Now we have news that another member of the offense is seriously considering a big promotion with another team. That man is quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion, who is currently in the Dallas area as the offensive coordinator for the Temple Bowl West teams. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports that Mannion will interview in person for the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive coordinator position, following a previous virtual interview.

If he gets the job, it would be a very quick promotion for Mannion, 33, who just completed his second year coaching at any level. The former quarterback retired after the 2023 season and spent the season on the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad. Green Bay hired him as an offensive assistant in 2024 and promoted him to quarterbacks coach in 2025 after Tom Clements retired.

The Eagles, meanwhile, are looking to replace Kevin Patullo, their offensive coordinator after the team fired him after their wild-card loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Head coach Nick Sirianni comes from an offensive background and occasionally calls plays, but things have been inconsistent since the start of 2021, his first season as the Eagles’ head coach.

Interestingly, the Eagles have seen multiple names withdraw from consideration, including the Chiefs’ Matt Nagy, the Bears’ Declan Doyle and former NFL head coaches Brian Daboll and Mike McDaniel. That leaves Mannion as one of the few remaining candidates, along with former Dolphins coach Frank Smith and former Colts coach Jim Bob Coote.

If Mannion does leave, the team will hire a new quarterbacks coach for the second straight season. One internal possibility is Connor Lewis, who was the assistant quarterbacks coach for three years under Clements before Mannion passed up the position last year. Lewis is currently listed as the offensive passing game and game management specialist, with the latter being tasked with resuming the role he held in 2021.
