OnePlus is gearing up to launch the Nord 5 and Nord CE 5 phones in India on July 8. Meanwhile, earlier this month, the brand launched the compact OnePlus 13s powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Now new rumors suggest that the company may launch a gaming smartphone soon. It can be equipped with flagship-level features and shoulder triggers for an improved gaming experience. However, the rumored phone is unlikely to be launched outside of China, including in India.
OnePlus gaming smartphone
According to an X post from source Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh), OnePlus is developing a “sub-series” of smartphones aimed at gamers. The product is said to be “still in the experimental stage.” This could mean that the company is still working on such a phone.
The source said the possibility of OnePlus launching the gaming smartphone globally is “risky”. So, if it does launch, it’ll likely only be available in OnePlus’ home country of China.
The rumored OnePlus “sub-series” of gaming smartphones are expected to be powered by flagship chipsets. It is expected to come with a large battery and have shoulder triggers to improve the gaming experience. No other details about the phone have been leaked yet.
If OnePlus does launch a gaming smartphone with shoulder triggers in China, it will directly compete with devices like the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro, ROG Phone 9 or the Red Magic 10 Pro+ and Red Magic 10 Pro.
Notably, Infinix recently launched the GT 30 Pro 5G in India with GT shoulder trigger. The trigger’s response rate is said to be 520Hz. The phone comes with MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate SoC, XBoost gaming engine, and AI-powered VC cooling system. The phone is priced at Rs. The 8GB + 256GB option costs $24,999.
