Meyers Taylor’s sixth career medal extended her record as the most decorated black athlete at the Winter Olympics, the Associated Press reported. She is also the oldest American woman to win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics.

She was born in Oceanside, California, a suburb of San Diego, but grew up in Douglasville, Georgia, according to The Sporting News.

Her father, Eddie Meyers, will retire in 2024 as PNC’s Georgia regional president after a successful 25 years in banking.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
