NY Giants, John Harbaugh nearing a deal

The New York Giants and John Harbaugh are close to reaching an agreement that would make Harbaugh the Giants’ next coach.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter issued the report late Wednesday, following a lengthy meeting between the two parties during the day.

Schefter posted several more times on the topic, expressing the Giants’ active pursuit of the veteran coach. Barring setbacks, a deal is expected to be reached.

The Baltimore Ravens decided to fire Harbaugh after 18 years, completely changing the 2026 coaching cycle. Harbaugh immediately became the most sought-after coach on the market and the Giants’ top target. The team immediately connected with Harbaugh’s training camp, and Chris Mara even visited the Super Bowl-winning coach’s home in Baltimore.

General manager Joe Schoen led a quick and efficient coaching search, making them the first team able to hire a coach.

It was previously reported that Harbaugh left East Rutherford without a deal and would meet with the Tennessee Titans at home in Baltimore.

Instead, it appears Harbaugh will eventually be announced as the Giants head coach in 2026. This is obviously welcome news for any fans worried about the team missing out on the opportunity to acquire the most experienced coach in a chaotic market.

The Giants have been hungry for victory (literally and figuratively) for too long. John Harbaugh is the consensus No. 1 coaching domino and, barring a setback, will be coaching the Giants in 2026. It represents a much-needed win for a team desperate for leadership to guide its core of young talent.

The focus now shifts to the two sides hammering out the details of an agreement and then fleshing out the coaching staff to maximize the Giants’ defensive performance and the development of Jaxon Dutt.
