It hasn’t been the best offseason for Notre Dame, with players heading off to new places, and Friday morning another player decided to leave South Bend.
Starting linebacker Billy Schrauth decided he wanted to step up to the next level and declared for the NFL draft on Friday. He is the second starting offensive lineman to make this move, following Amir Wagner who did the same.

The move isn’t surprising, especially considering his injury history. Schrauss suffered a knee injury against USC and did not finish the fall. When healthy, he was one of Notre Dame’s best linemen, but unfortunately he couldn’t stay on the field.
Schrauss entered the program as a four-star recruit out of Wisconsin and lived up to expectations. While he still has one season of eligibility left, he will leave with several years of starting experience and should have a very good NFL career. We wish Billy the very best in the next phase.
