Oklahoma Have found their quarterback. previous north texas signal caller Drew Mestemaker Following Eric Morris After spending two seasons in Denton, he transferred to the Cowboys through the NCAA transfer portal.
He was a backup and played five games as a freshman at North Texas, including a standout performance in a bowl game that season, before taking on the starting role as a redshirt freshman last fall. The 6-foot-4, 210-pounder set the college football world on fire with his second performance.

He completed 70.2 percent of his passes and led the FBS with 4,129 yards passing in 12 games. On top of that, he threw for 31 touchdowns with seven interceptions and was named USA Track & Field’s Offensive Player of the Year.
With his head coach headed to Oklahoma State, he elected to enter free agency. This all led to the Cowboys acquiring his services as he would continue his impressive rapport with Morris in Stillwater.
The Austin, Texas, native is one of only five freshmen in FBS history to throw for 4,000 yards and currently holds multiple single-season passing records. He’s hoping for similar results for Oklahoma State in 2026.
