No. 2 Michigan routs Villanova 89-61, remaining unbeaten with 6th straight win by 25-plus points

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Elliott Caddo scored 15 of his 18 points in the first half to help Michigan build a 30-point lead and the second-ranked Wolverines beat Villanova 89-61 on Tuesday night.

The Wolverines remain undefeated (9-0) and are the only team since at least the 1995-96 season to win six consecutive games by at least 25 points, with at least two of those wins coming against ranked opponents, according to Sportradar.

According to Sportradar, Michigan is the first team since Duke in 2009-10 to win by more than 35 points in five straight games, including two games against ranked teams.

The Wolverines are off to their best start since an 11-0 start five years ago.

The Wildcats (7-2) have won seven straight under first-year coach Kevin Willard, their longest streak in four years.

Villanova’s Devin Askew scored 18 points, Christian Jeffery scored 12 points, and Akaden Lewis scored 11 points.

The Wildcats quickly discovered the talent and depth on second-year coach Dusty May’s Michigan staff.

The Wolverines started on an 18-3 run, scored 15 points midway through the first half, and entered the half on a 12-0 run.
